Episode 66 - Al Good Things...Part 1

03 February 2012 | Its the show so nice we are going to air it twice! We are joined by Cryptic Lead Designer, Al Rivera on the show this week! He answers your questions, and in such great detail, that we had to split the show into two parts. Al answers some of our questions and a metric ton of community questions. There is quite possibly more information in this one interview, than in all our previous interviews combined! Thank you Al, this was a treat for us and, we hope, for our listeners. Enjoy Part One of Episode 66 and tune in Monday February 6th to hear Part 2, the thrilling conclusion of Episode 66, “Al Good Things.”

Our Blank of the Week features a couple of fantastic Videos and a message from a friend. First,  Rachel Garrett produced a shockingly good STO Anniversary Tribute Video, to mark the occasion. And not to be outdone, Cryptic released an awesome promo video for the forthcoming Dominion Featured Episode Series. Also we take a minute to talk about Adam Ihle, the creator of the U.S.S. Enterprise - F. He finds himself in need of some assistance, and the Star Trek Community is here to prove that we are the living Roddenberry Vision. Make it so!

In STO News, we cover Season 5 Dev Diary entries 15, 16 and 17, which feature news from Stephen D'Angelo on the upcoming Dominion Series, STO's move to STEAM, and the Foundry Author's Tip Jar, as well as highlights from the recent patch notes!

Good show! I really liked the idea of fleet commendations, it would be cool to elaborate on that and make it work like a CV so that it might be used when applying to join a fleet.

Great podcast guys. Thanks to Al for stopping by and giving us the lowdown on a lot of things. As a fleet leader, I cant wait for these items to get implemented. It would be nice to have the medals and fleet progression like I had in City of Heroes.

Odyssey +1 - NICE!!!!
Vesta / Sovie +1 - SWEET!!!
Paying for those for all of my accounts .... I guess I will have to get a bigger commission check for next month. So nose to the grindstone.

Still listening to the part 2, words can not describe politely how i feel about Als ideas about the Romulans. Doing a faction incorrectly is what got Cryptic in trouble in the first place, or does he not remember the ire they have recieved about the Klingons. Take your time and do it right, I will pay more for a full faction, i wont bother spending 1 cpoint on a rom ship for my kdf captain. I can feel my bp rising as I type, so thats all i have to say.

Wow! That was one big interview! 0_o But, I'm glad to hear awesome things are coming up soon! Lots of good information too, and great questions! I love how devs are so passionate for this game! Thanks for all the work you've done for this game, Al Rivera!

Elijah is a natural performer! Recently graduating with a degree in Theater, he's an award winning singer and an amazing actor. He first fell in love with Star Trek in college while watching seasons on DVD.
James, who has a background in law enforcement, currently works with tech in a security firm. He's loved Star Trek from a young age, when he'd watch TNG with his family.
